Goombi and Boogle are simple strangers that meet and enjoy a comfortable life in some town full of cartoony looking people. Goombi was born from a little egg, she ate some food and most of her larva life was spent maturing until she could enter her cocoon stage. Then when she became an adult butterpillar, she just went about her life being a flower arrangement specialist. By the way I should mention that yes, you read that right, a ‘butterpillar’. Like Boogle, they went through their bug stages just fine, but when they left their cocoons they came out defective. That's okay though! It doesn't bother them too much, and they look kinda cool being the way that they are.
Goombi met Boogle who is a baker and a ‘mothpillar’ (I tried looking up the larva stage of a moth. It's the same as a butterfly from what I saw. Kinda cute). They met up at a party at a mutual friend’s house and kept in touch ever since. Since their friendship bloomed, everything was working out pretty well between the two. They eventually moved onto being a couple after a few years, and then eventually married. They have their ups and downs in their relationship as people do when they’re exploring each other’s boundaries. Goombi doesn’t like Boogle stealing her dog cap, Boogle doesn’t like Goombi leaving dishes in the sink instead of just putting them in the washer, and so on. They have their arguments that always fizzle out because they know fighting with one another doesn’t solve anything. They give each other space, come back, talk, and cuddle it out. Sometimes they even share ice cream together while they’re in bed or on the couch! They're really good about letting each other have turns on who gets to pick the show since they’re not too picky about what they watch. Even with Boogle being a jazzy kind of catbug that likes decorating and horror movies. She gets along with Goombi who is more of an action movie nerd who collects action figures/ merch and geeks out about her special interests.
Together in this decent sized town they make it work with the other people in their community who are just trying to survive the current events that make everyone struggle. They have neighbors such as Bailey the chicken who is wedded with Ollie the cow. They have their differences, and their work doesn’t always align. Bailey is a preschool teacher and Ollie is a firefighter. They make it work just like their neighbors and they all go out together sometimes. The other neighbors they know are Baxter the hound who is the fiance to Harrison the horse. They are interior designers and business partners that help support a local antique shop run by Marey the Octopus. Even though there is a decent sized population in this town, these people still have their own small tight knit community that allows them to aid each other when times get tough.
As they’re all living quietly in their little suburban homes. Something amiss happens one day as the sky turned color and the winds suddenly change. Everyone was going about their business when the flash happened, so they weren’t aware of what's transpiring. Goombi and Boogle were home today since one of them had to call out sick to care for the other. Goombi fell ill from a cold, and Boogle was trying to nurse her back to health. However, when the flash happened homes and buildings were taken with it. Some people disappeared, there was something in the air making the people sick, and news couldn't spread fast enough to warn them of what happened.
Boogle couldn’t get a hold of any of her neighbors, and the explosion was making her weak. Though, she still took care of her wife even when she was feeling weak. It took a couple of days as the dust settled and the damage was done. Boogle couldn’t get out of bed anymore, and her wife was already asleep. She decided to sleep in that day and continued to sleep in from that day forward.
