My cryptids~
May make a lil nook in the future to holds all my cryptids. I'm just a lil lazy about making background art and decor art
Broods
General info: These creatures look and behave like great horned owls, but they have subtle horn-like structures on their heads that are mistaken for feathers. If a human becomes aware that the creature is a brood, and not a great horned owl then the brood can use said horns to attack the human along with their vicious talons. Other than that they have a human form that looks similar to a human female. They can’t completely transform because they don’t have the energy for that. So they use their clever tricks to still lure their victims with their bodies and voices to obtain their prey.
Cryptid lore: It is theorized that Broods spawned from the hatred of women who were unfairly taken advantage of by men. When more owl sightings were confirmed near populated areas where incidents of SA occurred. Police have started to link the two together to make sense of the missing people after such incidents were reported. There isn’t enough evidence that these creatures even existed other than one report of a traumatized man who was mauled within an inch of his life. So he could barely give his testimony before he passed. There is also one picture taken of them, but the photo is too blurry to fully make out what is happening in the image.
Lycan Lurkers
General info: lanky canine creatures that mold their appearance to be more appealing to women. They have an amalgamation of different dog breeds for their appearance, so they often get mistaken for ‘exotic dog breeds’ when people try to buy them or catch them in the wild. They have an overall friendly and happy aura to them which makes them perfect family pets. Like Broods, they can change their bodies but they shift into human males. They're quite deadly in their own right with their extra rows of teeth and strong jaws for biting. Also they have a tell just like Broods, but instead of horns they have human-like eyes or some kind of uncanny feature.
Cryptid lore: around the same time women get taken advantage of it should be noted that men got taken advantage of too. So to balance the demand to quell the human population of such evil. Lycan Lurkers spawned with Broods to lure and take care of females that take advantage of males. When incident reports come in about a missing lady after a man dealt with a vile act forced upon him. The police always find no traces of the female left behind. Instead they always find a strange ‘dog’ in the house and it gets away before the police can investigate. There has been one time when a policeman reported that he thought he saw a man in the house based on the shadows on the wall, but what rounded the corner was the woman’s beloved pet that stared him right in the eyes.
Deer Boy(s)
General info: a deer boy is an amalgamation of a human and a deer. Some deer boys look more deer than others while some deer boys look like boys. It entirely depends on how much human flesh they consumed while they were originally deers. Since they are predators to both humans and humans they are shunned from nature, and forced to live with their own kind. It's hard to say how many there are out there lurking in the forest for their next meal.
Cryptid lore: Men have been hunting animals since the end of time. However, what if the roles were reversed after deers gained a taste for human flesh? Male deers unlike female deers already had a hankering for flesh which allowed them to have a more expansive palate. Some deers have been seen eating members of their own kind or other animals as they evolved to have more predatory instincts. Humans tried regulating their populations so they wouldn’t mess with the populations of their game animals. However, this led them to becoming targets too and male deers began to change. By committing the taboo of eating human flesh and disturbing the laws of nature. These creatures were created and have only been seen by a handful of people before being shooed away. Humans were too scared and confused by what they saw to accurately record what they’ve seen. Plus any known humans that have seen one end up sounding like a lunatic when they come full sprint out of the forest after being gone for who knows how long after being nearly killed by the deer folk.
Crypsters (cryptid clowns from future clown corner)
General info: a joke cryptid and doesn’t have too much information on it. Probably accurate if I keep the information about them sparse since they’re cryptids. They will be part of the clown corner though, and I’ll make them spooky lol
Cryptid lore:honk poof, there goes all the data. Damn, guess you’ll never know shrugs and runs away
Peripranksters
General info: you know the black fuzzy figures you see in your peripheral when you’re minding your business? You think you just have something in your eye or that you’re just tired? Yeah, that's them. Formless pranksters that manifest themselves in a place where you can barely see them so they can play pranks on you. You think you saw something and you go to tell someone about it, but you just seem silly trying to explain a 7ft shadowy cat figure smiling at you and flipping you off.
Cryptid lore: they’ve been around for centuries bothering humans and making them paranoid with their existence. Some people have been driven mad trying to see them and what they’re up to. Others have tried to document what they do, but they never come close to accurately depicting what they look like, their behaviors, and so on. They're quite unpredictable critters and it's unknown how many there are since they can shape shift. There could be one or there could be millions terrorizing their own humans.
thinking about naming the cryptids page the 'Cryptid Nook' and the clown corner the 'Clown Cranny'. Then the website has nooks and crannies lmao
